Blessed 2024!

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all have been having a blessed new year so far. There are a few things I'd like to address this morning:

1. Starting next week - the first week of the Epiphany season - I plan to return to scheduling daily weekday devotional/reflection posts on here in which I elaborate on the things I'm thinking about, reading, or desiring to engage with others about.

2. Every other Tuesday at 5 pm MST (6 pm Central, 7 pm EST), I'll be online on the Discord channel to do voice and video calls whenever you guys can make it. If you have other times that you're on and want to talk, just post here and let me know and I may be able to talk. But every other Tuesday will be the consistent time that you can plan on me being in the chat ready to talk about whatever theological issue you'd like. I'm usually down for anything. I want to get to know you guys beyond just names on a screen!

3. The new thing that I will be working on this year is putting together one video per month EXCLUSIVE to Locals supporters. At the beginning of each month, I will be putting out a poll with various topics. You will vote on one of the ideas, or pitch your own in the comments. Whatever gets the most votes/agreement will be the video I research and film for you guys each month.

As always, I will continue to encourage you paid supporters to post regularly on here too. I want to know what you are studying, reading, and working through; plus, the attractiveness of this community will increase the more others see us posting and talking regularly. We have over 100 members in this community, but only a small handful of them are paid supporters.

As much as I hate "talking business," to continue putting out the volume of content that I'd like to, I need paid supporters—people willing to invest in content they believe in. That's just the reality. So, if you want to see this community and movement grow, please continue engaging and telling others about it. It does help!

And if you're an unpaid supporter, consider becoming a regular paid supporter this year. It can be as little as $5 dollars a month—basically a cup of coffee. It'll allow you to have access to everything mentioned above, including the right to post, comment, and engage more fully with the community.

As always, thanks to everyone who sees the value in a Mere Catholicity-like vision. I appreciate your support and care. Here's to 2024. The schedule above will begin on Monday of next week! Many blessings. Enjoy the rest of your Christmas!

Welcome to the Mere Catholicity Locals Community!

Welcome to the Mere Catholicity Locals Community! Here, you will find like-minded Christians with a desire to live ecumenically and pursue Christ in all things.

The Mere Catholicity movement runs only through listener support. The work that I (Jonah) do requires time and money. Without the financial support of my Locals community, I would not be able to continue making content. Simple as that. It is only thanks to this group that I can continue providing you with content that (hopefully) both edifies and challenges!

The good news for you is that joining the community itself is completely FREE! Once you sign up, you will be able to see most posts, live streams, and even content posted by other users. However, you will only be able to observe. You will not be able to comment, post, or see any exclusive content. This might be a good way to see if you want to support later down the line. So please join! Even if you cannot afford to give at this time!

Now, for those who do wish to give ...

Substack versus Locals

Friends - as I consider the various platforms that I operate, I find Substack to the most conducive to the model of online ministry that I am aiming for. Though I still plan to post here, as many of you still support me through this platform, Substack is where I will be focusing the majority of my time. If some of you wish to move your subscription from here to Substack, you are welcome to do that. Those who continue to support here, I will continue to post here — mostly the stuff that is behind the paywall on Substack so that you are getting the exclusive content regardless of where you are subscribed.

Hope you all are doing well. Lord bless you.

Ordination to the Diaconate

I've been gone again for a time preparing for my ordination. I was ordained a Deacon in the Holy Catholic Church on March 8th, 2025.

It was a joy beyond words. I am now back in full swing with ministry, media, and work.

I hope you all have been doing well. More to come soon.

The Return of the Mere Catholicity Podcast

Good morning everyone. I wanted to quickly update you on the Mere Catholicity Podcast. I’ve been posting videos on my channel, but it has been quite sometime since my channel has had a podcast episode release.

With my new job as a classical teacher, scheduling interviews has been a challenge. However, my plan is to use my summer breaks as time to double down on planning and recording new podcasts. The idea will be to record a ton of interviews that will then slowly release throughout the school year, expiring around the time the following summer arrives. This will ultimately result in a consistent once a month interview.

All that to say, the podcast will resume here in May or June of 2025 with some excellent interviews lined up!

Blessings on your Sunday!
