I had pleasure of speaking with Pastor Rich Lusk recently. Despite technical issues, the part of the conversation that did record was excellent.
Pastor Lusk represents the very best of what Reformed theology offers and shows, I think quite remarkably, that when Reformed theology is conscious of its historical heritage—both reformational and patristic—it is actually in great continuity with the greater catholic tradition.
In the video Rich and I discuss justification and apostasy (among other things), and I was pleased to hear him advocate for basically a Thomistic view of both things. Though he does acknowledge Rome as in error on the specifics of justification, he does seem to be quite clear that justification includes both an initial phase (sola fide) and a final phase (faith working by love). This leads to the obvious conclusion that our eschatological justification is dependent upon our perserverence in the faith—a gift given by God. Thus justification is not reduced to a one time ...

I've been gone again for a time preparing for my ordination. I was ordained a Deacon in the Holy Catholic Church on March 8th, 2025.
It was a joy beyond words. I am now back in full swing with ministry, media, and work.

Good morning everyone. I wanted to quickly update you on the Mere Catholicity Podcast. I’ve been posting videos on my channel, but it has been quite sometime since my channel has had a podcast episode release.
With my new job as a classical teacher, scheduling interviews has been a challenge. However, my plan is to use my summer breaks as time to double down on planning and recording new podcasts. The idea will be to record a ton of interviews that will then slowly release throughout the school year, expiring around the time the following summer arrives. This will ultimately result in a consistent once a month interview.
All that to say, the podcast will resume here in May or June of 2025 with some excellent interviews lined up!
