Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, a day that the church has taken to fast, pray, and mourn sin.
It was a difficult day for me. Lent is always a difficult season. It is a time when I am so deeply aware of my sin. I feel helpless and broken before my Holy God. I desire to be holy as he is holy but feel my shortcomings so acutely. The words of St. Paul are ever on my lips:
"Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?" (Rom. 7:24).
This is the question that we should cry out in the season of lent. Daily, imprinted upon our minds should be the feeling of horror and hopelessness for sinners without a Savior.
That feeling, however, should be overcome with St. Paul's follow-up statement:
"Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!" (Rom. 7:25).
Christ is our only hope. He is the only salvation for a sinner such as me. May we mourn our sins this season of Lent, and may our mourning leave us cleaving to the cross of Christ more than we have ever done before.

I've been gone again for a time preparing for my ordination. I was ordained a Deacon in the Holy Catholic Church on March 8th, 2025.
It was a joy beyond words. I am now back in full swing with ministry, media, and work.

Good morning everyone. I wanted to quickly update you on the Mere Catholicity Podcast. I’ve been posting videos on my channel, but it has been quite sometime since my channel has had a podcast episode release.
With my new job as a classical teacher, scheduling interviews has been a challenge. However, my plan is to use my summer breaks as time to double down on planning and recording new podcasts. The idea will be to record a ton of interviews that will then slowly release throughout the school year, expiring around the time the following summer arrives. This will ultimately result in a consistent once a month interview.
All that to say, the podcast will resume here in May or June of 2025 with some excellent interviews lined up!
