I have reconsidered and decided that the classical form of sola scriptura makes sense.
Here is why I have returned to this position - though I still don’t like the word “sola.”
1. Scripture is the confirmed teaching of the apostles.
2. The apostles are the only ones who spoke new, divine revelation.
3. While the Church is our interpreter, the Church is not above the apostles.
4. To insist that an infallible text needs an infallible interpreter, you end up with the issue that someone must interpret the infallible interpreter.
5. Therefore, either you have an endless chain of infallible interpreters, or you recognize the Church as collectively authoritative, but Scripture - being revelation - as the sole source of infallible writings.
This scheme, in its basic form, makes sense to me. In my affirmation of a classical view of sola scriptura, I am not denigrating the interpretive authority of the Church—I still place her voice above my own or any individual. The only thing I grant is that infallibility belongs to the inspired words of the apostles alone, while the Church, though fallible, is authoritative in her declarations.

I've been gone again for a time preparing for my ordination. I was ordained a Deacon in the Holy Catholic Church on March 8th, 2025.
It was a joy beyond words. I am now back in full swing with ministry, media, and work.

Good morning everyone. I wanted to quickly update you on the Mere Catholicity Podcast. I’ve been posting videos on my channel, but it has been quite sometime since my channel has had a podcast episode release.
With my new job as a classical teacher, scheduling interviews has been a challenge. However, my plan is to use my summer breaks as time to double down on planning and recording new podcasts. The idea will be to record a ton of interviews that will then slowly release throughout the school year, expiring around the time the following summer arrives. This will ultimately result in a consistent once a month interview.
All that to say, the podcast will resume here in May or June of 2025 with some excellent interviews lined up!
